Donation Guidelines
Open Monday-Saturday 11am-6pm Sunday 12pm 5pm

We need donations of high quality adult and children’s clothing, designer clothing, ski-wear, shoes, handbags, furniture, lamps, artwork, jewelry, china, decorative objects, books and unopened toys.


If in doubt – DONATE! Whatever the label –
Designer, Gap, Target –we will take
All items need to be clean and in good condition (Clothing should be washed or dry cleaned before bringing to the store). Due to space requirements, furniture needs to be viewed prior to acceptance. Please call Elena to arrange an appointment at (415) 929-8019.


Regretfully, we are unable to accept due to government regulations the following items. If you are unsure whether the Clothes Closet can accept your donation, please call Elena as she is happy to help you in any way.

Unacceptable Items

  • Spotted, soiled or torn clothing
  • Any item in need of repair, cracked or chipped dishes
  • Worn or broken furniture, pianos and organs
  • Opened games and puzzles, magazines, textbooks, encyclopedias
  • Baby furnishings (cribs, car seat, high chairs, strollers)
  • Roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards
  • Skis and ski boots, exercise equipment
  • athletic and sporting equipment
  • Animal bedding and cages
  • Electrical appliances (except lamps)
  • Beds, mattresses, pillows, water beds
  • futons, sofa beds, bed and futon frames
  • Venetian blinds and window coverings
  • Office furniture and equipment (metal desks, computers)
  • Auto parts, plumbing or building supplies, cabinets or doors
  • Camping equipment containing gas or butane
  • gas powered garden tools, lawnmowers, weed whackers
  • Fish tanks, plants and animals
  • Wire hangers
